For task limits in general they can be affected by job cancellations, late jobs, jobs with a high number of cards failing QA for example or the handwriting not meeting quality standards. At times task limits are lowered for everyone for example around Christmas to get at least one job for as many scribes as possible, increasing task limits in stages for scribes who wish to take on more than one.
Task limits are the best way we can ensure you get work. It can be a paradoxical situation when we have many people writing in to ask for their task limits to be raised. For example if 100 jobs are available, 100 scribes could have one job to work on and more people will be able to write more often, however if some people can request three or four jobs, or even five or six then only around 20 people would have a job and it would likely only be the fastest people who could log in at that time, whereas in our scribe tribe we aim to support you in your busy life without the stress of needing to check your emails all the time.
So if we increase your task limit you may be able to have multiple jobs at that time but it makes it much harder for you to request jobs in future because other people would have the higher task limit as well. We try to create a balance where you can request the work you want to whilst also making it fair for everyone, ensuring people don't become overwhelmed with tasks in case stationery is delayed or something comes up that means you have less time. We also have to make sure that one person cancelling won't delay a whole campaign. For example if one person has one job and cancels we can reassign to others, however if one person had seven jobs and cancels this creates a big problem.
When a lot of jobs are available, the system automatically adjusts task limits down to a base level, so everyone can get at least one job. Then the task limits progressively rise so anyone who would like another can log in and request. In less busy periods, tasks limits stay at a lower base level to allow more people to request a job.
If there is a surplus amount of jobs, the team will reach out to ask scribes to fill in an expression of interest form and we may be able to increase your task limit to take on more jobs.
If jobs come through that have a higher quantity of cards than your task limit will allow, e.g a job of 100 but your task limit is 75 this may be due to previous jobs being cancelled, submitted late, having a lot of QA issues or the handwriting not meeting quality expectations. You may need to wait for another job to come through with a lower number of tasks in it.
