The notifications go out instantly when jobs are posted to the platform to alert scribes in that handwriting style that jobs are available. The notification list goes in a random order each time to make it fair i.e if it was alphabetical then people with the surname starting with A would always be notified first, however the system we use means it randomises every time.
The notifications then send to each person one after another within seconds of each other. Depending on the signal in your area or your phone/internet service provider this can impact how long it takes to come through to you, as well as any spam filters through your network which may detect and slow down a message that contains the same info each time. There may be ways to whitelist emails/sms messages with your provider to ensure they reach you promptly but in general we recommend opting in to both the sms alerts and email alerts as one type may come through to you faster than the other.
Currently SMS alerts are only available for our UK Scribes.
When jobs are posted they feature a button to express interested, then read through the info of the job and hit confirm to request the job, it is then auto allocated to your scribe portal if you were the first scribe to request that job.
There may be some instances where two people have clicked on a job at roughly the same time and so the system will assign to the person who clicked first. Each time you request a job its worth checking you My Jobs portal to ensure a job has moved to you.
When a job is taken it may
a) continue to show on the platform but greyed out with no option to click on it/request
b) disappear from view to indicate it's no longer available to request
We've seen an uptick in the number of people keen to take on jobs and so jobs can tend to be taken up quite quickly once posted.
We manage task limits generally to help spread jobs to as many scribes as possible. For example if you currently have a job or just finished working on one, we often get requests to raise task limits to take more. We may need to hold off on raising task limits to give more people a chance to login and request one job before we raise task limits generally as we know some scribes are unable to check their phones during work hours and may need to request in the evening.
If jobs remain available, we then raise task limits generally to allow people to login again and request.
When all jobs on the campaign are taken up, this allows us to proceed with starting the campaign and ordering stationery so we ask all scribes to ensure they have checked their My Jobs portal to ensure the jobs they requested are ones they can commit to.
